The West Bloomfield Lakers fell 51-7 to Oxford on homecoming night, extending their losing streak to five games and finishing OAA Red division play without a win.

The Friday, Oct. 9 loss dropped the Lakers to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the Oakland Activities Association Red division. Oxford improved to 6-1 and clinched second place in the OAA Red behind undefeated Clarkston, according to the teams’ schedules.

West Bloomfield entered the game looking to snap a two-year losing streak against the Wildcats, according to Civic Center TV. The Lakers had also lost four straight games this season.

Neither streak ended.

The Lakers' lone win this season came in Week 2, a 33-21 victory over Troy on Sept. 3. Since then, the schedule has been unforgiving. A one-point loss at Rochester Adams (42-41) on Sept. 11 opened OAA Red play. Lake Orion shut them out 42-0 on Sept. 18. Bloomfield Hills beat them 28-20 on Sept. 25, and Clarkston routed them 64-8 on Oct. 2, according to MaxPreps.

On the season, West Bloomfield has scored 122 points and allowed 262, per MaxPreps. The Lakers are 1-2 at home and 0-4 on the road.

Two nonleague games remain. West Bloomfield travels to Southfield Arts & Tech on Friday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m., then hosts Utica Eisenhower on Friday, Oct. 23, at 7 p.m. to close the regular season.
