Water utilities, senior services and park debt are among nine fund categories the West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees was scheduled to review at a special budget session Wednesday, Oct. 14, according to the meeting agenda.

The meeting was scheduled for noon at the township boardroom, 4550 Walnut Lake Road.

What's on the table

The agenda lists reviews of the Safety Path Fund, Senior Services Fund, Opioid Settlement Fund, Parks & Recreation Debt Service Fund and Water Utilities Funds. The board was also scheduled to review the Architectural Barriers Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Fund, Drains At Large Fund, Police Forfeiture Funds and multiple Special Assessment District Funds.

The agenda does not include specific dollar figures for any of the funds under review. It lists no specific budget-adoption action.

The CDBG program, which the township has participated in since 1975, receives federal dollars through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as part of Oakland County's Urban County Program. West Bloomfield is one of 54 communities in that program, according to the township's CDBG page.

Those funds support senior meal services, minor home repair inspections, barrier-free park improvements and services for abused women and children.

A board in transition

The meeting was scheduled one week after the board accepted the resignation of Trustee Jibran "Jim" Manna, whose resignation letter was received Sept. 30, Civic Center TV reported. The board has 45 days from the beginning of the vacancy to appoint a successor to complete Manna's term, which runs through Dec. 1, 2028. Manna's name still appears on the Oct. 14 agenda's board member list.

Supervisor Jonathan Warshay presides over the board, which also includes Clerk Debbie Binder, Treasurer Teri Weingarden and Trustees Vincent Kirkwood, Michael Patton and Diane Rosenfeld Swimmer, according to the township’s elected officials page.

The agenda allows public comment on non-agenda items, with a three-minute limit per speaker.
