Two candidates will compete for a West Bloomfield Township Board of Trustees seat Tuesday, Nov. 3, while area voters also consider countywide tax proposals and local ballot questions.

Amy Mindell, a Democrat, faces Sean Lavine, listed as NPA, or no party affiliation, for a partial trustee term ending Dec. 1, 2028, according to the Oakland County Clerk’s official candidate list.

Mindell won a three-way Democratic primary Aug. 4 with 8,964 votes, topping Omar Kallabat’s 3,761 and David Flaisher’s 2,591, C&G Newspapers reported.

The Oakland County Times published video interviews with both candidates Oct. 16.

What else is on the ballot

West Bloomfield voters will see two countywide proposals and two statewide proposals, according to the county’s official proposal list.

The Oakland County Zoological Authority proposal would renew and restore its Detroit Zoo levy to 0.10 mill for 10 years, from 2028 through 2037. It combines a 0.0927-mill renewal with restoration of 0.0073 mill lost to tax rollbacks. The estimated first-year revenue is $8,831,012.

The Southeast Michigan Public Historical Museum Authority proposes a new 0.2-mill tax for 10 years, from 2026 through 2035. It would generate an estimated $17,733,800 countywide in its first year, according to ClickOnDetroit’s ballot-language roundup.

Statewide, Proposal 1 asks whether to convene a constitutional convention in 2027. Any resulting constitutional revision would require voter approval. Proposal 2 would prohibit certain campaign contributions from regulated utilities and government contractors and expand campaign-finance rules for political communications, according to the Oakland County Times’ proposal guide.

Orchard Lake Village voters will also decide whether to authorize the city to sell a vacant parcel at 4039 Pontiac Trail. School proposals vary by district, including improvement bond propositions in Farmington Public Schools and Birmingham Public Schools, according to the official proposal list.
